How Do You Install Underfloor Heating on Upper Floor Timber Frame Construction?

March 8, 2018

The client for an eco-friendly detached house was very keen to have underfloor heating on the upper floor of their new home – this was to be fed by a low temperature ground source heat pump system.

However, as this was a timber frame construction to maximise the thermal performance of the dwelling, this created potential issues due to a lack of thermal mass. To address this, an innovative product (Lewis Sheeting) was used to allowed the pouring of a thin fibre re-enforced screed on the upper floor, creating the thermal mass required to ensure an efficient system was created.
